Chap at Firle Vintage Fair

On the weekend of Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th August 2018, The Chap will be hosting a magazine and merchandise stall at Firle Vintage Fair, East Sussex’s best and largest vintage gathering. We will also be judging the best-dressed chaps and chapettes daily at 3pm and offering prizes from our bounty of Chap wares.
Firle Vintage Fair has gathered steam over the last three years to become a firm fixture on the vintage and retro mini-festival scene. It takes place in the beautiful grounds of Firle Place, a rambling family manse in the heart of the Sussex Downs. The multitude of attractions includes, upon first arriving, a fleet of vintage vehicles to admire, before heading into the tree-lined arena for the main entertainment. Live entertainment throughout the weekend features Swing Jazz bands, solo artists and Charleston dance troupes, Savoy Kicks and The Gatsby Girls. Brighton Swing will be performing high energy Lindy Hop and workshops throughout the weekend.
ELLE designs will be providing a cat-walk show of vintage fashions, while every day at 3pm, The Chap will be awarding prizes for best-dressed ladies and gentlemen. The Martin Revell Tea Dance will be located in the Riding School at Firle Place Gardens on Both Saturday and Sunday, and for the less energetic, there will be Flower Crown workshops, talks on Sussex Beekeeping and Wild Food workshops. Food stalls aplenty purvey artisan food and drink, including Iced Sloe Gins from ‘Deco Noir’ and a Champagne bar on the lawns.
And then there are the trading stalls, selling everything from decorative Antiques, glassware, Art Deco curiosities, clocks and watches and haberdashery, to vintage fashions and retro and antique furniture, all from some of the best dealers in the country.
For children there is a beautiful Funfair with hand-painted Victorian rides from, a Sussex family business who have been running funfairs for 100 years.
Firle is situated in the middle of the Sussex Downs near Lewes, and the fair will provide a Routemaster bus link from Lewes Railway station, and there is plenty of car parking on site.
Tickets cost £10 on the gate and dogs are welcome. Under fives get in free.
