Left alone in Kirrin Cottage in the care of Aunt Fanny’s temporary cook, Mrs. Stick, with her nasty, tiresome son Edgar, the Famous Five plot to flee to Kirrin Island after George suspects Mrs Stick of trying to poison Timmy. On the island, the children find evidence of other visitors and suspect smugglers. The discovery of a young girl’s toys and clothes point to something more sinister, and they then discover that the Sticks have imprisoned a young girl, Jennifer Armstrong, on the island and are holding her for ransom. Published in 1944, Five Run Away Together was the third of Enid Blyton’s Famous Five novels. This is the first edition, published by Hodder & Stoughton in 1944, in very good condition.
