Description
As chronicled in CHAP Summer/Autumn 24, Robert Smith Surtees was a Victorian author of humorous books about the huntin’ shootin’ and fishin’ set. His hero, Mr. Jorrocks the cockney fox-hunting grocer, has his place among the great British comic characters, along with Falstaff and Uncle Toby. Jorrocks Jaunts and Jollities was the definitive collection of Surtees’ stories, here assembled in a pleasant hardback edition published in 1920, a facsimile of the original edition published in 1843. The copy is in good condition with some markings to the front cover but the inside pages in excellent condition for their age.
