Description
Jules Verne’s Journey classic 1864 science fiction novel follows German professor Otto Lidenbrock in his firm belief that there are volcanic tubes going toward the centre of the Earth. With his nephew Axel and their guide, Hans descends into the Icelandic volcano Snæfellsjökull, encountering many adventures, including prehistoric animals and natural hazards, before eventually coming to the surface again in southern Italy, at the Stromboli volcano. From a scientific point of view, there are geological aspects to this story that are slightly questionable (in fact nearly all of them), yet it is still a rollicking tale of gung-ho adventures from the master of the genre. This paperback edition was published by Penguin in 1965 and is in very good condition.
