Description
A collection of autobiographical essays by Cornelia Otis Skinner – an American writer and actress of the 1930s and 40s. Showing that some things never change, in two of the pieces The Body Beautiful – and The Skin Game, the author consults experts on skin care and health regimes, who bamboozle her into spending a lot of money on their products. She then regales us with her attempts at learning to dance, ice skating, horse riding and flower arranging, all with a self-deprecating and witty tone; perhaps the Bridget Jones of the 1940s. This is the 1947 hardback edition with a preface by F. Tennyson Jesse and illustrations by Alajalov and Soglow, and is in good condition.
