Description
A vast coffee table book that, with the addition of a pair of turned Georgian legs, could easily be converted into a coffee table itself. From the elegant quill of James Sherwood, modestly pictured on the cover in Huntsman and Ede & Ravenscroft, comes this reflection on the origins and maintenance of the English gentleman, from where he has his hair powdered to where his boots are made. The foreword comes from Terence Stamp, the working class actor whose eye was keenly set on St James’s from an early age, and who ended up moving into chambers at Albany and getting his shoes made by George Cleverly. At 11×14 inches and with 225 pages, this is the sort of book to be leafed through on a very large leather sofa at a gentlemen’s club. This edition was published in 2012 by Thames and Hudson and is in very good condition.
