Top Hat & Tails

£25.00

Michael Marshall’s 1978 biography of ‘elegant and debonair entertainer’ Jack Buchanan, a huge British star in the 1920s, who went from London’s West End to Broadway, where he became an international figure through his work with Gertrude Lawrence. Buchanan worked with Bing Crosby, Bob Hope and Fred Astaire – the latter who penned the foreword to this book. Readers expecting a warts-and-all expose will have to dig deep, for, as Wildred Hyde White commented, “He wasn’t a subject for muck-raking because there wasn’t any muck.” This is a first edition in excellent condition.
