Description
Ted Shane’s Bar Guide was published in 1955, declaring that ‘cocktail mixing is an art, as well as a lot of fun’. One couldn’t agree more, which is why this tome will prove indispensable to one who wishes to prepare cocktails in the old-fashioned way, rather than the modern way – which would involve steaming coriander and muddling chia seeds, probably. In this healthier collection you will find recipes for American Beauties, Mint Juleps, Pousse Cafes and Tom Collins, along with some edgier recipes such as ‘Brain Duster’ – 1/2 jigger Pernod, 3 dashes Angostura Bitters, 1/2 jigger cognac, shaken over cracked ice and strained. This is the 1960 edition in good condition.
