More Poems – A.E. Housman

£45.00

When A.E. Housman died in April 1936, he had left strict instructions to his brother Lawrence to destroy all prose work by the poet, and “to publish any poems which appear to him to be completed and to be not inferior to the average of my published poems.” Lawrence Housman himself, in the preface to this collection, admits to how daunting the task bequeathed to him by his brother was. Housman also appears to have bequeathed a message to the reader in one of the poems: “Ho, everyone that thirsteth/And hath the price to give/Come to the stolen waters/Drink and your soul shall live.” This is the first edition in very good condition.
