Description
Published in 1955, along with many other books celebrating the great War leader, this one took the form of many large photographs, including some very rarely seen elsewhere, such as those of Churchill with his wife hunting, visiting the home fleet with Edward VIII, painting in Madeira and hunting wild boar in France in 1927, and building a house with his daughter in 1927. The photo of Winston visiting his old school, Harrow, reminds one of the story that took place in the lavatory of a restaurant, where a young chap emerged at the same time as Churchill. “I went to Eton,” said the young man, “where they taught me to wash my hands after using the toilet.” Churchill replied: “And I went to Harrow, where they taught us not to piss on our hands.” This copy is in good condition, with two minor tears to the latter pages.
