Name: Derek Dubery
Age: 50
Origin: Kent but now in Belfast.
Sartorial motto: Cost is no measure of whether it suits you. Also… if you’re a slave to purely vintage clothing you can be just as much a fashion victim as the contemporary fashionista. Mix and match and wear only what suits you.
Style icon: John Steed (for appearing to be conservative but actually being contemporary) and Errol Flynn for facial hair and devilment.
Hat: : Lock & Co. The only decent bowler hat supplier left, it seems.
Silk flower buttonhole It’s on a rather sharp pin, which can be dipped in poison and used to stab enemy agents in the bottom, if the mood takes me.
Fox & Co umbrella. I frequently carry one when I’m flying to London, as it seems to irritate airport security, which makes the inconvenience of carrying it completely worthwhile.
Jacket: Bladen half-Norfolk, second-hand then taken in at the waist and the sleeves narrowed. Not too narrow though; still enough room to lift a martini without them bunching up like the horrendous things worn by Daniel Craig.
Fox & Co umbrella. I frequently carry one when I’m flying to London, as it seems to irritate airport security, which makes the inconvenience of carrying it completely worthwhile.
Trousers: Skinny but not too skinny. A slightly exaggerated contemporary version of Steed’s slim 60s cut trousers.
Shirt: Marks and Spencer. Their more expensive shirts are excellent quality for the money and don’t have stupidly short sleeves as standard.
Tie: Austin Reed, knitted silk.
Cufflinks: Invisible in the picture but rather natty early 70s Apollo moon landings commemorative jobs.
Socks: Garish but concealed
Shoes: Charles Tyrwhitt brogued Chelsea boots.
