E.F. Benson was a prolific novelist and short story writer of the 1930s, known chiefly for the Mapp and Lucia series. As We Were is Benson’s acerbic observations of the great and the not-so-good of the Victorian era, including Prince Albert, Edward Burne-Jones, Queen Victoria, Edward VII, Gladstone, Gosse, the Pre-Raphaelites, Ruskin, Swinburne, Whistler and Oscar Wilde. This is the 1971 edition in very good condition.
