First British edition of Raymond Chandler’s masterpiece of detective fiction. This was his sixth novel featuring Philip Marlowe and it went on to win, in 1955, the Edgar Award for best novel. Literary critic Anthony Boucher described The Long Goodbye as “a moody, brooding book, in which Marlowe is less a detective than a disturbed man of 42 on a quest for some evidence of truth and humanity”. This first edition is in very good condition.
