The ninth volume and third of the war trilogy in Anthony Powell’s epic cycle of novels, A Dance to the Music of Time, The Military Philosophers takes place during 1942-45. Narrator Nicholas Jenkins has been posted to a War Office Section in liaison with the Allied Armies. The ‘military philosophers’ of the title refers to those intellectually preoccupied with the art of war, and applies to many of Jenkins’ colleagues, including Finn, Farebrother and Widmerpool. This is the first edition in very good condition.
