Description
Before his posthumous career as cover star for The Chap, David Niven was an actor and famous raconteur. He produced two volumes of reminiscences, this and Bring on the Empty Horses. The Moon’s a Balloon covers the early years of his life, from being stationed for officer training on Malta during WWII and meeting his lifelong chum Michael Trubshawe, to serving in the Phantom Regiment with distinction, then emigrating to Hollywood to pursue a career in the movies. The fact that Niven quotes ee cummings on the opening page shows that this is no mere luvvie collection of anecdotes, but a genuinely written account of a remarkable life. This edition was published by Hamish Hamilton in 1975.
