The Outline of History

£95.00

Published in 1919, HG Wells’ monumental chronicle of human activity was subtitled either “The Whole Story of Man” or “Being a Plain History of Life and Mankind”, and covered the period from the origin of the Earth to the First World War. Naturally it is slightly out of date now, but we can assume that Wells strove to make his facts as accurate as possible when he composed this magnificent tome. Updated versions were made after his death in 1946. Many revised versions were published during Wells’s lifetime, and the author kept notes on factual corrections which he received from around the world. The Outline of History was first published as a series of magazines, but this is the fully cloth bound edition in two volumes, with a total of 1,660 large format pages, fully illustrated with colour plates. The volumes are in very good condition with no foxing or marks to any of the pages.
