If you manage to reach the end of this gargantuan tome on the life of Winston Churchill, you will probably be as old as he was when he died, or at least feel as if you are. The 1,066 pages are the exhaustive result of twenty-five years of research by author Martin Gilbert, whose two years of National Service and reading of history at Magdalen College, Oxford, qualified him for this momentous literary task. While at Oxford he became research assistant to Randolph Churchill, going on to write the first two volumes of Winston’s official biography before penning this single volume. This is the Book Club Associates edition from 1992 in good condition.
