ABC of Men’s Fashion

£15.00

“A man should look as if he has bought his clothes with intelligence, put them on with care and then forgotten all about them.” Thus spake Hardy Amies, Savile Row tailor, WWII spy and menswear rule-maker. Some of the rules in this slim volume might sound dictatorial, but all of them make perfect sense, even though they were written in 1964. For example, Hardy’s advice on holiday wear: “Travel in a dark suit, in as light a cloth as you can afford. This will see you through most occasions when a suit is required. Wear black casual shoes.” Chaps will find the advice given only applies to them, while they are surrounded by fellows in pantaloons de Nimes and short-sleeved shirts, but at least they know that Hardy Amies would approve. This is the hardback reissue from 2007 and is in good condition, save for a few creases to the dust jacket.
