Description
While not as indispensable and authoritative as Bernhard Roetzel’s Gentleman or Paul Keers’ A Gentleman’s Wardrobe, Nicholas Storey’s more recent tome on menswear is nevertheless still a handy guide to the essentials of a gentleman’s wardrobe. He combines accurate sartorial information with curious facts and anecdotes, such as how Cary Grant’s tailor disguised the actor’s broad acrobat’s shoulders and the type of straw used to construct a Panama hat. The book will make you an expert on gentlemen’s clothing, from knowing what peccary gloves are made of to how to remove traces of lipstick from a coat lapel. This hardback edition was published by Pen & Sword Books in 2009 and is in very good condition.
