Mother-of-pearl T-bar Cufflinks

£10.00

It is fascinating to witness, via historical items such as these, the development of cufflink technology, in particular how the chain cufflink – ubiquitous during the art deco era – gradually evolved into the T-bar fastening seen on most contemporary cufflinks. This pair from the 1930s shows the design in transition, for we still have a swivel in the fastening arm , harking back to the chain, while the design of the bar itself still has the gentle curvature of the art deco era. The cufflink itself, mother-of-pearl set in a filigree frame, firmly retains its art deco origins.
