Description
There are echoes of John Updike’s more famous novel, The Three Witches of Eastwick, in this 1988 epistolary novel about communes and cults. The letters from protagonist Sarah Worth reflect on the commune she has joined in Arizona, and her past life on the North Shore, in a Stepford Wife type existence. The letters are addressed to her husband, her daughter, her best friend and her psychiatrist, which Updike uses to reveal the plot of this humorous and, at the time, shocking novel. This is the first edition in very good condition.
