Through The Looking Glass

£25.00

A hardback 1950 edition of Lewis Carroll’s second instalment in the Alice series, with 50 illustrations by John Tenniel. Published in 1871, Through The Looking Glass again takes Alice into a fantastical world, this time by climbing through a mirror into the world that she can see beyond it. There she finds that, just like a reflection, everything is reversed, including logic (for example, running helps one remain stationary, walking away from something brings one towards it, chessmen are alive, nursery rhyme characters exist, and so on). As well as the story, the book features well-known poems by Carroll including Jabberwocky and The Walrus and the Carpenter. This 1950 hardback edition is missing its spine but otherwise in good condition.
