Description
In the early fifties, Tootal (founded in Manchester in 1799) switched their quality grading system from Popular, Standard, Sports and Special to colour-coded labels. Red was the lowest, and so Red Quality ties were made with wool rather than the rayon of higher grades. This Red Quality yellow tie with a burgundy paisley design was probably made in the late 1950s, though would work equally well with a forties sports jacket or tweed suit. It measures 112cm in length and 8cm across the blade, so you’ll need to tuck it into a waistcoat.
