The Films of David Niven

£15.00

All of us are familiar with the diamonds in Niven’s career like Around the World in 80 Days, The Prisoner of Zenda and Casino Royale, but what do we know of Thank You, Jeeves (1936), in which the actor played Bertie Wooster alongside Arthur Treacher as Jeeves, or his role as the eponymous gentleman thief in Raffles (1939)? Niven’s career went on hold after that, while he served his country in the Phantom Regiment, but he did find the time to star in two propaganda movies, The First of the Few (1942) and The Way Ahead (1944), before resuming his career in Hollywood after the War. Then there are his ‘serious’ films such as A Matter of Life and Death (1945) and Separate Tables (1958), but in between those there were countless serviceable farces like The Silken Affair (1956) and Happy Anniversary (1959). Every one of his films is chronicled here, with detailed cast notes and behind the scenes stories. This copy is in good condition.
