Description
A novel in four episodes by Christopher Isherwood. The visitor who links them together is clearly Isherwood himself, or is he? The 23-year-old Isherwood who visits Mr. Lancaster in Germany is not the same person as the man, five years later, who spends a summer with Ambrose on a Greek island, nor the same man who visits the Munich Crisis of 1938 in London. The ‘down there’ of the title refers to the author’s voyage of discovery deep into his own self, via these encounters in the outside world. This first edition was published in 1962 and is in good condition.
