Description
Evelyn Dunbar was the only salaried female British war artist during World War II, as featured in issue 93 of The Chap. During the Second World War, some 400 male artists were taken on as official war artists, often sent to the Front to compose paintings in theatres of action. Evelyn Dunbar was posted in 1940 to Sparsholt Farm Institute near Winchester, one of many agricultural colleges turned into wartime training centres for the Women’s Land Army. The book chronicles her artistic development during and after the War, fully and richly illustrated with photographs and prints of her work. This is the first edition in very good condition.
