The Detective in Film

£20.00

William K. Everson’s 1972 history of the detective in film does not need updating, as it would only have to include poorly dressed detectives such as Thomas Magnum and Cagney & Lacey. Instead, it includes every screen detective whose wardrobe is worth admiring, from Sherlock Holmes to Simon Templar to Philip Marlowe. There is even an entire chapter titled ‘The Gentlemen’, in which Basil Rathbone appears nearly as many times as William Powell. This is a large-format paperback in good condition.
