Falling for Marilyn

£20.00

Photojournalist Jock Carroll was given the assignment of a lifetime in 1952. Marilyn Monroe was on the set of her next film Niagara and the producers needed some behind-the-scenes photographs taken. Over the course of several days, Carroll caught Marilyn in a crucial stage of her career, aged 26 and just before mega stardom beckoned, and far away from the adoring and intrusive crowds that would soon become part of her daily life. This large-format book captures the intimate shots taken of Marilyn as she tries on make-up, learns to smoke a cigarette and stalks around the set of Niagara. The book also includes an edited version of the story Carroll wrote about the experience, which originally appeared in Canada’s Weekend Magazine. “What a smile. Full, red lips, white teeth, those wide-set innocent blue eyes. When she looked directly at you, it made you feel as though the two of you were sharing some naughty secret.” This copy is in very good condition.
