Description
An Edwardian silk top hat from Lincoln Bennett of Piccadilly, London, size 7. Silk toppers are becoming rarer and rarer due to the plush used in them being unavailable for around 70 years, as explained by Master Hatter at Lock & Co. This hat was declared by Lock & Co to be in superb condition for its 100-year-old age, with no moth damage to the silk plush (a common ailment in antique toppers) and the silk and leather of the lining in pristine condition, with the initials R.D. of the original owner stamped into the lining. This hat has been expertly cleaned by Lock & Co and is ready to wear with White Tie or Morning Dress, at Royal Ascot or elsewhere. The size is 7 exactly.
