Description
Before the outbreak of the Second World War, having completed some of his finest works including Vile Bodies, Scoop and A Handful of Dust, Evelyn Waugh was working on his next novel, which he had to abandon to take up active service. He only got as far as the first 100 pages, and this book published them together as a collection of short stories in 1945, upon Waugh’s return from the War. The original edition was a run of only 500 copies and in 1948 this edition was published by Chapman & Hall. This copy is in good condition apart from some mottling to the hardcover, under the dust jacket.
